When things change inside you, life changes around you.
Change – or a lack thereof – can be painful. In times of stress, we find ourselves asking heavy questions. Self-doubt, uncertainty, or conflict can leave us feeling stuck and out of touch with what we need. Sometimes we question if we deserve what we have or desire. An objective, outside perspective can help.
The counseling relationship is an opportunity for you to be heard in a safe, non-judgmental space. A psychotherapist can assist you in exploring your life patterns, identifying the ways you cope, and practicing new responses. In doing so, you will expand your ability to deal with life’s challenges. Just as each person is individual, so too are psychotherapists and how they view the counseling relationship. |
My belief is that you are the expert on you.
I encourage clients to become more curious about themselves and start looking inward--recognizing physical sensations, acknowledging the emotions and feelings that come up throughout the day, and identifying conscious and unconscious beliefs about themselves and others. At first, this can be overwhelming as the internal human landscape is vibrant. It can be difficult to find the words to express what is happening. With practice, support, and time you can learn to utilize these sensations, feelings, and beliefs for 'whole being health.' Our physical bodies are a source of great wisdom and increasing our body awareness in therapy gives us another tool to communicate with ourselves.
Once our mind, body, and spirit are in alignment, we can connect to the intuitive parts of ourselves. Through this deeper insight, we learn more about our inner truth. Once we have deeper understanding and compassion for ourselves, we feel more confident about our life decisions, knowing that they originate from our core being. |
